Play 1976, is to trust the best of the Chinese indie rock scene, the island of Taiwan included. One can even say that in Late Summer of 1976 is evident.
Anyone who followed the course of the 90s rock through to Nirvana Unplugged, benefits superhuman Jeff Buckley, England with his good scene (probably the best current) gathering groups in "The" or else the French and Belgian independence (which today still think K's Choice or Deus?) will appreciate this Chinese group, it is impossible otherwise!
Late Summer of 1976 was recorded at a session of the group that has a particular affinity for the guitar dry and electro-acoustic guitar (in short, this is not you hear riffs Barbarian). The place is left to whatever is more melodic, more emotional, while leaving flexibility to the pulses of the scene.
Upon first listen the album is fun to let our ears lulled by compositions whose duration is equal to that pleasure of a live performance. In short, this place for artists, real ones, who sing, who do not retouch their voice in the recording studios.
So crude rock, independent, moreover because this group has become known thanks to its many concerts and the Internet, new media tool.
The song that opens the ball on this disc is a marvel. The auditor will be immediately captivated by this vocal melody on the strings muted. An instant classic between a unusual voice and a refined melody.
So what can one expect after such a good introduction? Well simply put: better!
Being accustomed to disappointments Chinese adorn their first cd as a pest and endless desert music, I'm afraid this may be the same for 1976. Happy mistake.
No, I say "no" for an album title missed that takes ten tunes. And if this were not enough, a title in English very good quality stuff this selection of exceptional quality.
For a first album, 1976 put dishes in the large and boasts of being part of the elite of the Chinese-language music, simply.
The rest of the album is drunk as whey, such a sweet reverie where one takes you to the dreams, thoughts stealth; of lost loves and sorrows of yesteryear ...
No need to say more, you'd better listen to this record than to read this column. I leave you, I go back .... A great record.
